Delphi Private Day Trip

Itinerary

Start your full-day private tour early in the morning with a convenient hotel pick-up. Once you’re comfortably seated in your air-conditioned vehicle, set off on a scenic drive through Central Greece via the National Highway.

Nestled on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, this two-hour journey from Athens showcases the stunning Greek countryside. Along the route, you’ll pass through the historic region of Boeotia and the ancient city of Thebes, a prominent city-state during classical antiquity.

As you approach Mount Parnassus, the scenery transitions from dry landscapes to lush, verdant terrain. Underneath the towering Phaedriades rock formations and atop a dramatic plateau lies Delphi, an important sanctuary dedicated to Apollo, the god of harmony, sunlight, and Zeus’s sacred laws. For the ancient Greeks, Delphi was the center of the world—the “navel of the Earth.”

Delphi gained prominence due to the prophetic power of its oracle, delivered by Pythia, Apollo’s high priestess. While exploring, you’ll visit the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia, a masterpiece of classical architecture, the Doric Temple of Apollo, and the Castalia Spring, each steeped in history and mythology.

Your journey continues with a visit to the Delphi Archaeological Museum, which houses incredible artifacts, including the famous “Omphalos” stone, fragments of a frieze depicting the labors of Hercules, and the celebrated Charioteer of Delphi, an extraordinary example of ancient Greek sculpture.

After exploring Delphi, head to the picturesque village of Arachova, a popular winter destination in Greece. Here, you’ll have free time to wander the charming streets or enjoy a traditional Greek meal at one of its inviting taverns.

At the end of your enriching day, your driver will return you to Athens, concluding your unforgettable trip.

Tip: Wear comfortable shoes to make the most of your day exploring these historic sites and charming streets.
